MLB Betting: Pirates vs Rays & Mets vs Marlins – 6/25/2022

Every team is in action in Major League Baseball on Saturday, and there’s plenty for bettors to take advantage of. The Tampa Bay Rays host the Pittsburgh Pirates in interleague play, while the New York Mets and Miami Marlins face off in a National League East battle. This betting guide will give some value plays based on the trends going on between the teams in those two games.

Pittsburgh Pirates (+155) vs Tampa Bay Rays (-185)

Tampa Bay starter Corey Kluber is in the middle of another great season, even if he’s dropped his last two starts. Over his last five starts, he’s given up a total of seven earned runs and has struck out 18 across 29 innings pitched. He’s failed to pitch into the sixth just once in that span. Enter the 28th-ranked offense in the Majors, and this is a good spot for Tampa. The money line is steep, but there is value in the Rays’ run line (-1.5, +115).

The total has gone under in four of Kluber’s last five starts, and Tampa scored 11 runs in the one that went over. This is a pretty low number, even with Pittsburgh’s anemic offense. Tampa could hit this one on their own, as the rocky Pittsburgh bullpen usually gets some work when J.T. Brubaker gets the start. Lean toward the over (O7.5, -105) in this one.

New York Mets (-150) vs Miami Marlins (+130)

Things haven’t been going so well for Miami starter Trevor Rogers. He’s got an ERA of 5.93 over his last three starts, and has given up 25 runs in 20.1 innings pitched at home for an ERA of 8.85. Now, he’s facing the third-ranked offense in the Major Leagues. This is the sixth meeting between these teams this season, and the Mets have won five. Take New York (-150) to win again.

Rogers’ struggles have been notable lately, but Mets starter Chris Bassitt hasn’t been the picture of consistency, either. He’s just 1-2 with a 5.09 ERA in his last three starts, including a loss in his last start to these same Marlins, and has a 5.46 ERA and 1.37 WHIP (walks+hits per inning pitched) when pitching on the road. Expect some more runs to be scored on Saturday, and take the over (O8, -105) in this one.
