Fantasy Corner: Forward Picks for Daily Fantasy – 05/27/2022

The best forward picks for their value for daily fantasy. As the second round nears its end and there are typically only one to two games a night, the players you don’t expect are often the ones who push you closer to victory and are the difference makers. So, here are a few picks for tonight’s action.

Robert Thomas

Robert Thomas was the best player on the ice for the St. Louis Blues in Game 5 where they staved off elimination. He scored two goals, including the game-tying goal in the final minute of regulation. He continuously showed off his speed and his line was put back out on the ice in what it seemed like every second shift.

It was just his first two goals in the postseason, but what a time to show up and have your best game. This pass-first player had six shots on goal and did hit the 20-goal mark during the regular season. Being flanked by Vladimir Tarasenko and Pavel Buchnevich on the second line, they have the potential to be game-changers even when the Blues’ top line doesn’t show up like they didn’t in Game 5.

Jordan Kyrou

Jordan Kyrou hit the scoresheet in Game 5 again as he continued his stellar breakout campaign. The Blues are so deep that they have him on the third line, but that hasn’t slowed his production. Over a point per game player in the regular season, he has transferred that to the playoffs where he has six goals and eight points in 11 games against two stronger opponents through the first two rounds.

Kyrou has scored a goal in three of the five games while also adding a point in the second round. He is one of the more consistent players and will tend to spread out his points over a period of time. Look to him to get involved again in another elimination game for the Blues.

Mikko Rantanen

Mikko Rantanen has scored 30 or more goals in three of the past four seasons but he has been snake-bitten in the playoffs thus far. He has still been producing offensively by making good plays and passes but has just one goal through nine games and it came in Game 4 of the second round.

He does still have 11 points in the playoffs this season and six points through five games against the Blues. He has been alternating playing with centermen Nathan MacKinnon and Nazem Kadri, both of whom have recorded hat tricks in the past two games. So Rantanen will have plenty of opportunities to pile up points again in Game 6.
