NHL Betting: Avalanche vs Blues Game 4 Player Props – 05/23/2022

The scoring has picked up in the second-round series between the Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Blues, and that means plenty of opportunity for success with player props. This betting guide will give some tips on potential player props based on the trends through the first three games of the series.

Cale Makar Assists (Over 0.5, -130)

Cale Makar picked up his first point of the series in Game 3, delivering a helper on Nazem Kadri’s second-period goal. The Avalanche never trailed again, but more importantly, it gave Makar his juice back. For the rest of the game, Makar was a different player, gliding around the ice like Avs fans have become accustomed to, which was a change from the first two games.

If Makar has his mojo back, he’s going to be dangerous for the rest of this series. He logged almost 29 minutes of ice time in Game 3, almost five minutes more than his total in Game 2. He also blocked three shots, and that’s usually an indication he’s mightily involved in everything. The assist in Game 2 was a good signal of things to come for Makar, and the odds for him to get at least one assist (-130) in Game 4 are very favorable.

Gabriel Landeskog Anytime Goalscorer (+160)

Gabriel Landeskog was reunited with his familiar linemates in Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen for the bulk of Game 3, and the trio combined for a Landeskog goal in the third period. The trio also combined for the Avs’ lone goal in Game 2, but that one came on the power play. If Colorado coach Jared Bednar puts these three back together for Game 4, there’s a good chance for more goals to come.

Neither MacKinnon nor Rantanen has scored a goal in the second round, but both of them have recorded at least one assist in every game. Landeskog has been great the entire postseason, and he has two goals and two assists this series. If he plays with MacKinnon and Rantanen again, there is a great chance they set him up for one of his patented greasy goals around the crease. These are great odds (+160) for him to extend his goal streak to three games.

Vladimir Tarasenko Anytime Goal Scorer (+205)

After scoring five goals in the first round, Vladimir Tarasenko hasn’t lit the lamp in three games against the Colorado Avalanche. Now that the Blues are back at home, Tarasenko is getting more opportunities to take advantage of the last change. He had six shots on target in Game 3 – his most of the playoffs – and was two incredible saves from getting his first goal of the second round.

The odds point at this being a bit of a longshot, but Tarasenko is right there. He was heavily involved in the last contest and was oh-so-close to scoring. That top line was also making some noise in Game 3, particularly over the final period and a half, and Tarasenko was the driving force behind that. It’s a bit of an anticipatory play, but these are great odds (+205) for him to get his first goal of the series.
