MLS Betting: Atlanta vs Miami & New England vs Minnesota – 06/19/22

In today’s MLS action, eight teams take the pitch for a light Sunday schedule. Inter Miami CF continues to push for some playoff ground in the Eastern Conference as they take on Atlanta United. Meanwhile, the New England Revolution and Minnesota United sit on the outside looking in but remain competitive in their pursuit of a postseason appearance.

Moneyline: Atlanta @ -200

In their last two home games dating back to 2021, Atlanta has defeated Miami both times. They dropped their last meeting while on the road, and led in scoring for just 29 minutes in the previous four matches. While Miami has picked things up as of late, their road struggles have haunted them as they’ve dropped nine of their last 12. Injury troubles continue to be a concern for Miami, with just five players playing ten games or more since the start of this season.

Atlanta tends to possess the ball at a better rate compared to Miami and, as a result, tends to commit fewer fouls. They’re two points back from their Sunday opponents but have also played two fewer games. On home turf, Atlanta is nearly unstoppable, posting a 3-1-3 record this season and picking up 12 of a possible 21 points. Take them to win today and go with the over (O2.5, +130).

Anytime Goal Scorer: Josef Martínez (-125)

Despite the team falling short in his return to play, Josef Martínez is at 100%, and it could not come at a better time. The 29-year-old has two goals and two assists in six games this season, five of which he started. He was an absolute menace last season, scoring 12 goals in 24 games, and Atlanta will need him at his best if they hope to push forward for a playoff spot.

Leave this field empty if you're human:

Martínez scored a goal in the last three meetings against Miami, and he’ll look to continue that trend today. Historically, he’s one of the best goal scorers in Atlanta history, having recorded 31 goals in 34 games in 2018 and following it up with 27 in 29 games the following year. With the home crowd backing him up, expect Martínez to register yet another tally against Miami today.

Moneyline: New England @ -154

New England and Minnesota have not faced each other since 2019, when the Revolution held on to a 2-1 win at home. The home team has won three of the last four games between the two clubs, but Minnesota has taken two of the past three games. New England’s 1-1 draw against Orlando City extended their home undefeated streak to five games, which is good news against a Minnesota team that hasn’t strung together consecutive road wins since 2020. It’s fair to believe New England won’t be allowing them to do so any time soon, so take them to carry out a win and continue their home-turf domination.
