Fantasy Corner: Forward Picks for Daily Fantasy – 05/23/2022

The best forward picks for their value for daily fantasy. As the second round has gotten going and there are often only two games a night, the middle-six players are often the ones who push you closer to victory and are the difference makers. So, here are a few picks for tonight’s action.

Corey Perry

Corey Perry has been a key and underrated piece who has helped the Tampa Bay Lightning get off to a 3-0 series lead against the Presidents’ Trophy winner Florida Panthers. The way Perry has made an impact is scoring in each of the games, opening the scoring for the game in two of them, and scoring first for the Lightning in all three.

He has his net-front role on the power play, which has outmatched the Panthers, and he has been able to be elevated in the lineup due to Brayden Point’s injury. Perry is showing that he is a playoff performer and wants to finally win the Stanley Cup after losing in consecutive Cup Finals.

Ryan O’Reilly

Ryan O’Reilly has been the St. Louis Blues’ MVP to this point and has two goals and four points in three games in the second round. All goals in this series have been key, but the former Conn Smythe winner is stepping up when the team needs it the most against the Stanley Cup favourites.

He leads the Blues with seven goals and 12 points with four on a power play that is working well. The Colorado Avalanche are down a defenceman now, so O’Reilly and the top line should be able to continue to stay on the scoresheet as he is one of four players on his team shooting over 20 percent this postseason.

Artturi Lehkonen

The Avalanche got a boost by a line that wasn’t their first line in Game 3. Artturi Lehkonen has found chemistry with Nazem Kadri and Gabriel Landeskog on the second line as the team wanted to spread out the scoring. It worked and they took over as Lehkonen got two goals in the game. That’s the first time he has shown up to this series points-wise, but he has been there physically the entire series.

Scoring twice in Game 3 pushed his totals to four goals in seven games. Lehkonen is familiar with what it takes since he was part of that Montreal Canadiens team that made it all the way to the Stanley Cup Final last season. He has already surpassed the production of that run this season and is playing a more impactful role. As a key member of the Avalanche’s second line, expect him to get on the scoresheet again.
