MLB Betting: Tigers vs Diamondbacks & Phillies vs Padres – 06/26/22

In today’s MLB betting guide, the Detroit Tigers will look to earn the series sweep against the Arizona Diamondbacks this afternoon after winning the previous two games while on the road. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres play the rubber match of the weekend series to determine the winner of the three-game set.

Detroit Tigers (+120) vs Arizona Diamondbacks (-140)

The Tigers’ month has been unremarkable, dropping 13 of 20 before entering the series with the Diamondbacks. Thankfully, Arizona has struggled just as much as them, and with two solid defensive efforts and good pitching, Detroit has enjoyed a string of wins for the first time in a week. Beau Brieske will start this afternoon and is 1-4 in his last seven games with an ERA (earned run average) of 4.19 with 30 strikeouts in 38.2 innings.

Arizona is at risk of dropping consecutive season series with a loss this afternoon, and they’ll count on the services of Dallas Keuchel to avoid the sweep. His last seven starts have been a disaster, stumbling to a 1-5 record with an 8.33 ERA and 43 hits in 27 innings. The Diamondbacks sit in fourth in the NL West, and a few more losses put them at risk of dropping into the basement and being surpassed by the Colorado Rockies.

Philadelphia Phillies (+140) vs San Diego Padres (-160)

After taking down the Washington Nationals in four of five games, the Phillies have struggled in their last five, winning just two. They exchanged wins with the Padres and will aim to win the fourth match and play catch-up to the Atlanta Braves, who sit in second in the NL East. Kyle Gibson earns his 15th start of the season and is 1-2 in his last seven starts, with an ERA of 4.02. He’s had a rough couple of outings, allowing seven hits in back-to-back games while striking out ten batters. His last win came on June 10 against the Diamondbacks, when he struck out four batters in six innings.

The Padres hope to end this series with a tie after dropping two of the past three games. They’ve had an odd two weeks as of late, sweeping the Chicago Cubs, losing three straight to the Colorado Rockies, and then sweeping the Diamondbacks. Their efforts have been good enough to keep them planted in second in the NL West, but a couple of wins could propel them to the top of the division. Yu Darvish is the starter and is 4-2 in his previous seven games, riding a three-game winning streak with an ERA of 2.57.
