MLS Betting: NY City vs Colorado & Nashville vs Kansas City – 06/19/22

In MLS action, 20 teams are in action for a busy Sunday evening. New York City FC continue their dominance over the Eastern Conference as they host the Colorado Rapids. Meanwhile, Sporting Kansas City aims to win their first road match of the season when they visit Nashville SC at GEODIS Park.

Moneyline: New York City @ -200

All signs point to a New York City victory today, which would mark their first five-game winning streak since 2019. They’ve won four in a row and seven of their last eight matches and have not dropped a decision against Colorado in five games. In their previous two outings, they pummelled the Rapids by a combined score of 9-1, including 5-1 and 4-0 scoring lines. Colorado has been great at home but is winless when hitting the road with a current 0-5-1 record.

An impressive statistic as the two teams enter today’s contest is that New York City has not conceded a single goal in their last five games. Out-scoring their opponents 9-0 in May, NYC aims to add to the woes of a struggling Colorado team and continue their terror over the entire Eastern Conference. They’ve looked great despite losing head coach Ronny Deila to Belgium’s Standard Liege. Take them to win big, pairing it with the over (O2.5, -143).

Anytime Goal Scorer: Valentín Castellanos (-150)

In his last six games, Valentín Castellanos has punished the opposition by scoring a whopping eight goals. While it includes a four-goal performance against Real Salt Lake, a game which New York City won 6-0, his goal-scoring prowess has been put on full display this season. He has seven goals in 11 games this season, one more than his 2019 campaign, and in half of the games played.

Castellanos is a nightmare to play against, as his quick decision-making with the ball always keeps opposing defenders guessing. His quick strikes make it near impossible for goaltenders to reach, and he’s excellent at picking corners from outside the box. He’ll be a player to watch out for, and he should be someone worth considering to put money on to record a goal.

Moneyline: Nashville @ -138

Nashville hosts Kansas City at GEODIS Park for the first time ever and has all the momentum heading into Sunday evening. They’re unbeaten in their last 24 home games, which extends to last season’s playoffs, and before their 0-0 draw last game, they scored in 19 consecutive matches. With Kansas City’s 0-6-2 road record and nine losses on the season, it’s no surprise Nashville is considered the favourite to win. Stick with the safe bet, take them to win, and lean towards going with the under (U2.5, -135).
