Fantasy Corner: Daily Fantasy Forward Picks – 05/24/2022

Things are tightening up in the second round, and with a pair of Game 4s on Thursday, the stakes are escalating for all teams. The teams are familiar with each other and daily fantasy salaries are settling in, too. This betting guide offers some of the best value plays for forwards entering Tuesday’s games.

Zach Hyman, Edmonton Oilers

Zach Hyman isn’t the least expensive option out there, but his price is still pretty affordable, especially when considering his output. He scored just two goals in the seven games of the first round against the Los Angeles Kings and both came in Game 3. Hyman has four goals in Edmonton’s three games against Calgary in the second round, and he’s doing a bit of everything else, as well.

Over his past four playoff games, Hyman has cracked off a blistering 23 shots on goal, and he’s blocked six shots. He’s been one of the highest performing players of the second round and keeps getting opportunities. Calgary hasn’t shown that they can slow him down, and the Oilers aren’t slowing down either. If Hyman isn’t in your lineup, he should be.

Tyler Toffoli, Calgary Flames

It was a bit of a rough night for all Calgary Flames in Game 3, but Tyler Toffoli is still a solid play moving forward. He scored a point in each of the first two games of the second-round series against the Oilers, and he’s gotten multiple shots on goal for 17 straight games. He has seven shots on goal in this series and has a point on the power play.

At a below-average price on multiple platforms, Toffoli is still a decent play because of his consistency. Toffoli is always a bit of a risky play because he never blocks shots. That means DFS lineups need him to pile up shots on goal, and they need him to score points. He’s going to get chances and is still a good value play at the winger spot.

Vincent Trocheck, Florida Panthers

Vincent Trocheck has been in a bit of a slump, but he’s put up some modest daily fantasy points along the way. After scoring three goals and four assists in the first round against the Boston Bruins, he has yet to register a point in the second round. That’s dropped his price drastically, but the offense is still there. Trocheck has 10 shots on goal in this series and has hit the post or crossbar at least three times.

Trocheck is bound to bust through one of these games against the Rangers. In four games against New York in the regular season, Trocheck scored two goals and two assists. He also had 10 shots on goal in those four games. He’s logged north of 19 minutes in each of the last two games, as well, meaning it’s a matter of time before this scoring slump comes to an end.
