NHL Betting: Stanley Cup Final Game 3 Player Props – 06/20/2022

The Colorado Avalanche dominated the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final. That contest had tons of opportunities for player prop bettors, and there looks to be some good value in Game 3. This betting guide will give insight into a few player props to consider as the series moves to Florida.

Valeri Nichushkin: Over 0.5 Points (-135)

Don’t look now, but Valeri Nichushkin might be the hottest player on the Avalanche. The veteran forward has three goals and an assist through the first two games of the series and scored a pair of goals in Game 2. He’s coming off the best regular season of his career, and now has five goals and an assist in his last four games.

Nichushkin has been streaky in these playoffs, but he’s on a good streak right now. The Lightning haven’t been able to slow down the Avalanche, and Nichushkin has really responded to playing some minutes on the top line with Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog. Nichushkin looks like he could continue his recent success, and take him to get at least one point (-135) in Game 3.

Cale Makar: Over 0.5 Assists (-130)

This might seem like an odd play since Cale Makar does not have an assist in the first two games of this series. However, bettors can use that to their advantage. He scored two goals in Game 2, and Makar’s 17 assists are tied for the fourth-most in the league this postseason, and history says he’s probably not going to go much longer without an assist.

Makar has gone three games without an assist just twice this season, and one of those stretches was at the beginning of December. He has seven assists in his last six games, despite not recording a helper in half of those contests. He’s integral to the Avalanche offense and will continue to be heavily involved. Expect him to pick up at least one assist (-130) on Monday.

Steven Stamkos: Over 3.5 Shots (+125)

Game 2 was worth forgetting for a lot of the Tampa Bay skaters, including Steven Stamkos. The star forward had just one shot on goal in the blowout loss but had three shots on goal in Game 1. He’s been one of the more reliable scorers for the Lightning for years, and he was a big reason why they downed the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Final.

The Lightning have to win this game if they’re going to have a shot at their third straight title, and Jon Cooper is too good of a coach not to make some adjustments. One of those should be feeding their stars more chances, and with the series moving to Tampa, that bodes well for Stamkos. Expect him to be involved, and this seems like good value for him to get at least four shots on goal (+125).
