NHL Betting: Avalanche vs Lighting Stanley Cup Final Game 4 – 06/22/2022

The Stanley Cup Final became a series again with the Tampa Bay Lightning recording their first win of the series. The two-time defending champs will try and even things up in tonight’s Game 4. This betting guide will tackle some of the best value plays for Wednesday’s contest based on trends going on through the first trio of games.

Colorado Avalanche (-110) vs Tampa Bay Lightning (-110)

The Lightning breathed some life into the series with a big victory in Game 3, racking up six goals against the Avalanche. That was tied for the most goals allowed by the Avalanche in any game this postseason. They previously allowed six goals to the Edmonton Oilers in Colorado’s 8-6 victory in Game 1 of the Western Conference Final.

With back-to-back blowouts in the series – one for each team – it’s getting trickier to make the money line play. The loss was just the third of the playoffs for the Avalanche and their first on the road. Tampa has lost just once at home in the playoffs, and it was their first home game of the first round. This game certainly could go either way, but lean toward the Lightning (-110) to knot up the series.

Over/Under: Over 6 Goals (-110)

Tampa Bay goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy was much better in Game 3, but so was the Lightning offense – even without Brayden Point. Tampa scored twice as many goals in Game 3 as they had in the first two games of the series. The over has landed in seven of the last eight meetings between these two teams, and this series has been filled with goals since the first period of Game 1.

The offense has been clicking for both teams, even if they haven’t been clicking at the same time. Every game has this series has gone over the total, and each team has managed at least six goals on their own in one game of this series. The over will likely be the play in this series unless something drastic happens, and it looks like the play in Game 4. Take the over again in this one (-110).

Prop Bet: First Period Goals (Over 1.5, -140)

Hot starts for both teams have been a staple of this series so far. At least three goals have been scored in the opening period of every game of this series, and more than two goals have been scored in five of Colorado’s last seven. There’s also uncertainty around the Avalanche goaltender situation, as starter Darcy Kuemper was pulled in Game 3.

Tampa Bay finally found a consistent offensive stride, and both teams have been ready to go right from puck drop. This has been a good play all series, and the odds are starting to correct for it, but there’s still value in this play. Lean towards two more goals to get scored in Game 4 (-140), continuing a trend that has hit in every game of this series.
