Aston Villa vs. Arsenal
Arsenal to win -135
Arsenal have dropped points in three straight games, opening the door for Manchester City to get back in the thick of the title race. But the Gunners have had such a strong season so far that it is difficult to see them dropping points yet again this weekend.
Overall, Arsenal are 16W-3D-4L this campaign, including a very impressive 8-1-2 record away from home. They are matched up Saturday with a very mediocre Aston Villa team, one that has 28 points in 22 matches this season, good enough for 11th place. The Gunners boast a +19.1 expected goal difference (xGD), per FBRef, compared to Villa’s -6.1 xGD. There is a large gap between these two sides.
Arsenal have finally hit a rough patch after an almost perfect first half of the season, but they should be poised to bounce back against a lesser team.
Newcastle vs. Liverpool
Newcastle to win +150
Newcastle host Liverpool on Saturday in what should be one of the most exciting games of the weekend.
Liverpool have been a huge disappointment this season and are at 9-5-7 overall. They are 1-1-3 in their last five and look destined for a mid-table finish. If they have any hopes of getting back into a top-four race, they really need to knock off the Magpies.
Newcastle are 10-11-1 this year, putting them in fourth place in the table, and they are undefeated at home this season (6-5-0). The Magpies are third in the league in xGD (+14.9), and they are a ways ahead of Liverpool (+8.1).
Newcastle should expect to win the majority of their home games, and Liverpool are not playing at the elite level that we have seen from them in recent seasons. The Magpies are a great bet to get the full three points, especially at these plus-money odds.
Tottenham vs. West Ham
West Ham to win +350
Draw +260
This game is an interesting matchup, as Tottenham are 19 points ahead of West Ham in the table but are only 1.5 goals ahead on xGD.
West Ham have had a difficult season, but they've also been unlucky. The Hammers are starting to play better, recording a 1-2-0 record in the last three matches, notching draws against Newcastle and Chelsea.
Tottenham are not in great form, going 2-0-3 in their last five games, but they do have a win against Manchester City in that span. Spurs are a difficult team to figure out, but they have not shown much consistency this season and are just 7-1-8 since the start of October.
Tottenham got off to a great start this campaign, but they have been mediocre for several months now. Meanwhile, the Hammers seem to finally be turning around their season. West Ham have enough in them to get at least a draw from this game.
