NHL Betting: Stars vs Flames Game 5 Player Props – 05/11/2022

Goals are starting to trickle in during the first-round series between the Calgary Flames and Dallas Stars. That means more opportunities for player props. This betting guide will give you a few plays on individual players who should have some value in Wednesday’s Game 5.

Johnny Gaudreau Anytime Goal Scorer (+160)

Johnny Gaudreau finally got his first goal of the series on Monday, and it came on a beautiful penalty shot. He now has a goal and three assists in the series, scoring at least a point in every game except for when the Flames were shut out in Game 2. The only thing slowing any of the Flames down has been Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger, who stonewalled Gaudreau twice in Game 3 on the way to making 50 saves.

Gaudreau has just the lone goal in the series, but the chances have been there. After a tentative Game 1, Gaudreau rattled off 14 shots on goal over the next three games. Calgary has gotten its offense going and overwhelmed Oettinger by sheer volume in Game 4. That should keep going with the Flames back at home, and the goal in Game 4 should set Gaudreau off. The odds for him to score a goal (+160) have some value, and this is definitely a bet worth considering.

Tyler Toffoli Shots (Over 2.5, +100)

Tyler Toffoli is finally comfortable in the series and was really good in both games in Dallas. He has managed just one point in the series, but he’s getting chances because they’re getting him the puck. Toffoli had six shots in Game 4 and would have had his first goal of the playoffs if not for Oettinger making what is probably the highlight save of the postseason thus far.

Expect Toffoli to keep up the pressure and for the Flames to continue the offense they got rolling in Game 4 as they put up 54 shots on target. After getting shut out in Game 2, the Flames have promptly put up 95 shots on goal in the last two games. Toffoli is responsible for nine of those, and they should keep coming. Getting even money on Toffoli to land at least three shots on goal (+100) is a good play here.

Jason Robertson Shots (Over 2.5, -140)

Jason Robertson’s breakout season hasn’t really translated into the postseason just yet, at least from the standpoint of goals and assists. The 22-year-old Dallas forward racked up 41 goals in the regular season but has scraped together just one assist in the playoffs. Don’t be concerned with his points. He’s had some bad luck, but Robertson is creating chances.

Robertson was a little gun shy during the first two games of this series but got back into playing his game in Games 3 and 4. He racked up 10 shots in the last two games combined, including six in Game 4. Even without the points on the stat sheet, Robertson has proven to be a good play for getting pucks on target. The points might come, but the shots have been there. His number for getting at least three shots on goal (-140) is a good play in Wednesday’s pivotal Game 5.
