NHL Betting: Penguins vs Rangers First Round Game 4 – 05/09/22

The first-round matchup between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the New York Rangers continues in Game 4 with the Penguins leading 2-1 as we look at the moneyline, over/under, and player props for this game.

Pittsburgh Penguins (-110) vs New York Rangers (-110)

This game is a pick’em between the Penguins and the Rangers as it has been one of the tighter series this postseason thus far. It has featured one of the two overtime games in the playoffs. The series has gone back and forth to this point, and with Igor Shesterkin and the Rangers looking for a big bounce-back performance after their goaltender was pulled, expect a much tighter game.

In the other net is the hero for the Penguins to this point. Louis Domingue was tasked with entering Game 1 well into the overtimes and helped Pittsburgh seal the victory. He has had the net ever since and the Penguins have the 2-1 lead in the series. He has been much better than you would have expected in a third goalie, so the under looks promising in this one (U6, -105) along with the Rangers to even up the series with good odds at home.

Player Props

Artemi Panarin – Assists (Over 0.5, -117)

Artemi Panarin has made his mark in the series and is finally showing why he was amongst the NHL leaders in points and assists. He finished the regular season with 74 assists in 75 games and has two in three games this series. Both have come in the same game, but that was Game 2 when he first showed up for the series and helped the Rangers win.

If the Rangers are going to get back in this series, Panarin will have to be doing what they are paying him for, producing offence. The Rangers have outplayed the Penguins on special teams, so with the number of penalties being called across the playoffs, he and the Rangers will have ample opportunities to get points. Domingue has played well, but the Rangers need to get to him as they did in Game 2.

Sidney Crosby – Assists (Over 0.5, -115)

Sidney Crosby has been a force in this series and is a big part of why the Penguins, who were an underdog coming into this series, are now up 2-1. He has one goal and five assists and his line hasn’t stopped running through the Rangers. With known playoff performer and scorer Jake Guentzel on Crosby’s line, he has someone to feed the puck and get to the right position that he knows will finish the play.

All of Crosby’s offence has come at even strength, so the Rangers have yet to find an answer for that line. The Rangers may bounce back and win this game as they’ve shown in this series already, but that doesn’t mean they will find a response to one of the hottest lines in the playoffs led by Crosby.
