NHL Betting: Flames vs Canucks & Kings vs Ducks – 04/23/22

The Calgary Flames try to end the Vancouver Canucks’ playoff hopes, while the Los Angeles Kings attempt to just about punch their ticket to the postseason against the Anaheim Ducks in two late-game betting previews.

Calgary Flames (-225) vs Vancouver Canucks (+185)

The Canucks are on their last limb and don’t face a favourable matchup to keep their playoff aspirations alive. They battle the powerhouse Flames on the road who are 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. The Flames haven’t let up since December and have proven to be a competitive team every night with possibly the best line in the NHL this season consisting of Johnny Gaudreau, Matthew Tkachuk, and Elias Lindholm, two of whom have hit 100 points.

The Canucks just saw their third player reach 30 goals on the season, but the Flames have four players already at 35-plus. The Canucks had hope after winning six in a row but then lost momentum and possibly their season after a disappointing loss after losing a lead to the Ottawa Senators followed by another loss.

The Canucks will be battling hard, but again it won’t be enough for them to withstand the pressure the Flames come with. Take the Flames and the over (O6.5, +100).

Los Angeles Kings (-250) vs Anaheim Ducks (+195)

The Kings have just about secured a playoff spot with their recent three-game win streak but look to stay on the right track backed by rejuvenated goaltender Jonathan Quick. He has rediscovered the magic he had earlier in the season and has taken back the starting role. The Kings are shorthanded, so they will continue to ride the hot hand to give them the best chance of winning.

Fortunately for them, they face a visiting Ducks team that has struggled. It will also be the last game that Ducks’ captain Ryan Getzlaf plays against the team’s biggest rival. Expect a hard-fought game by him, but not enough to lift the team out of the dumps. After snapping an 11-game losing streak, the team hasn’t done much better, still losing six of nine. They match up against the Kings at a bad time considering they have found ways to win and hold a playoff spot. Take the Kings and the under (U6, -115).
