NHL Betting: Avalanche vs Blues Second Round Game 6 – 05/27/2022

The St. Louis Blues season might be on life support, but they showed in Game 5 that they aren’t dead yet. With a big comeback on Wednesday, the Blues have earned one more game at home, and that opens up a lot of opportunities for bettors. There have been some great trends in this series, and this betting guide will deliver insight into some of the top value plays for Friday’s Game 6.

Puck Line: Avalanche -1.5 (+135)

Avalanche Lead Series 3-2

The Colorado Avalanche flat out blew Game 5. They led 3-0 late in the second period, lost that lead, and then gave up a 4-3 lead with less than three minutes to play. It was a spirited effort from the Blues and looks like a good spot for them heading back home. However, that advantage might not be all it’s cracked up to be.

The Blues are just 2-3 at home during the postseason, and both wins were against the Minnesota Wild in the first round. Colorado has won the last five meetings between these two teams in St. Louis, including Games 3 and 4 of this series. The Avs are also undefeated away from home in the postseason. Expect them to right the ship, clinch this series away from home, and clear the puck line (-1.5, +135) with a late empty-netter.

Over/Under: Over 6.5 (-115)

The odds have started to catch up with this play, but there’s still plenty of value here. Every game in this series has hit the over since Ville Husso entered the St. Louis net in Game 3. There have been nine goals scored in each of the last two games, and even the Blues are getting more involved in the scoring.

The series moves back to St. Louis, and the Avalanche scored at least five goals in each of their first two road games. That’s a good start when playing the over. With Colorado looking to clinch and St. Louis looking to stay alive, there should be plenty of chances taken on offense in Game 6. Keep hammering the over on this one, as the odds (-135) are still very playable.

Prop Bet: Colorado Total Goals Over 3.5 (-110)

This number seems low, considering the Avalanche have scored at least five goals in each of the last three games of this series. Since Jordan Binnington exited, the Avalanche are averaging five goals and 33 shots per game. They’re getting to the Blues, and their stars are finally involved. Colorado is getting scoring from all their lines, and superstar Nathan MacKinnon exploded for a hat trick.

Colorado’s two highest-scoring games in the series were the two earlier games in St. Louis, and Colorado scored five goals in its only regular-season road game against the Blues. The goals have been coming for the Avs, and it doesn’t look like they’ll slow down soon. Just like playing the over has been a must-play over the past few games of this series, the odds for Colorado to score at least four goals (-110) seem like a very good play.
