In one of the final weeks in the fantasy regular season, one goaltender pickup could make or break your season, so here are a few great options for the weekend.
Scott Wedgewood – Dallas Stars – 6% Rostered
Scott Wedgewood has had a very solid year considering he has played for two teams at the bottom of the standings for most of the season. His save percentage on the season is .910, and that’s while playing in 26 games for the Arizona Coyotes. The Dallas Stars are a much better defensive team to back stop and in his first game, he helped defeat the Carolina Hurricanes on the road by posting a .936 save percentage.

The Stars play back-to-back this weekend against the San Jose Sharks and the Seattle Kraken. Take your pick, both are favourable matchups to get in and the Stars won’t want to overwork Jake Oettinger down the stretch if they don’t have to. I anticipate Wedgewood getting the start Sunday in Seattle, a game in which they should win and he should have another solid performance.
Brian Elliott – Tampa Bay Lightning – 8% Rostered
The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Chicago Blackhawks last night with Andrei Vasilevskiy in net. They play again tonight, which means Brian Elliott should get the start in this favourable matchup at home vs the Montreal Canadiens. The offence of the Lightning has started to pick up again, but the defensive structure has remained strong throughout the slump.
The Lightning should have no problem going to Elliott tonight with a playoff spot all but locked up already and against a weak opponent that they should beat in any regard. He has won four of his last five starts and has a .916 save percentage on the season. Those are good numbers that could improve after this weekend.
Mikko Koskinen – Edmonton Oilers – 55% Rostered
Mikko Koskinen has won two games in a row and posted good numbers since his blunder in Calgary where the blame can’t solely be placed on him. It seems as though he still has the starting job in Edmonton after Mike Smith once again allowed more than enough goals in the Oilers’ 6-5 overtime win against the St. Louis Blues.

In a tight playoff race where the team is not only fighting to hold a spot but also trying to jump the Los Angeles Kings for second in the division, they will need to beat the non-playoff teams in games they are favoured. The game this weekend comes vs the Anaheim Ducks, a team that finally snapped an 11-game losing streak. Wins were hard to come by for that team even before they sold four important pieces. The Oilers should have no trouble defeating the Ducks with Koskinen in goal.
