NHL Betting: Flames vs Oilers Player Props – McDavid, Draisaitl, Tkachuk – 05/18/22

The best player props for the Game 1 matchup between the Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers as the series kicks off in Calgary.

Connor McDavid – Anytime Goal-Scorer (+140) & Points (Over 1.5, -125)

Connor McDavid showed up for the season series between the Oilers and the Flames, recording three goals and four assists in the four games, including three multi-point games and a hat trick in their first meeting. Way more often than not he comes to play, especially in big games like this second-round series presents.

McDavid is the playoff leader in points with 14 after Round 1 and dominated Games 6 and 7 against the Los Angeles Kings. Another second-round appearance won’t be good enough for the four-time Art Ross Trophy winner as he looks to lead the Oilers into what is their biggest playoff series since the 2006 Stanley Cup Final. Expect McDavid to continue his torrid pace, scoring at least a goal and getting on the scoresheet.

Leon Draisaitl – Anytime Goal-Scorer (+110) & Points (Over 0.5, -238)

Leon Draisaitl, like McDavid, comes to play when it’s the Battle of Alberta. In the Oilers’ 9-5 loss to the Flames, he recorded a hat trick but he was also, unfortunately, minus-four in that game. That doesn’t happen often, especially since Draisaitl is normally solid defensively. But it also shows how dominant he and the power play can be against any team in the NHL, even a great defensive team like the Flames.

Draisaitl finished the four games against the Flames this season with five goals and six assists, including six on the power play. He is a little banged up but Jay Woodcroft says he is available for the game. If anything, Draisaitl will be the most efficient in his spot on the power play firing the puck or feeding it back in front of the net. It’s also not a bad move to add him to record a power-play point into the mix too (+135).

Matthew Tkachuk – Points (Over 0.5, +160)

Matthew Tkachuk was someone who showed up to play every game against the Oilers on the other side of the Battle of Alberta. He recorded at least a point in all four meetings during the regular season and had three goals and eight points. He topped 80 points in a season for the first time in his career this season, recording 104 and playing on the most dominant line.

His linemate Johnny Gaudreau had a productive first series despite the play of opposing goaltender Jake Oettinger. But Tkachuk was also in on the action scoring one goal and six points in seven games. He plays a tough brand of hockey and will surely be in the face of Oilers’ Mike Smith all game long digging for pucks. Expect him to be a factor in Game 1 and all series long.
