MLS Betting: Dallas vs Vancouver & Salt Lake vs San Jose – 06/18/22

In today’s MLS action, 20 teams are in action for a busy Saturday evening. FC Dallas aims to put some distance between themselves and the few teams trailing closely behind as they go head-to-head with the Vancouver Whitecaps. Meanwhile, third-seeded Real Salt Lake hopes to continue making the San Jose Earthquakes’ season miserable and earn ground in a competitive Western Conference.

Moneyline: Dallas @ -200

Dallas welcomes Vancouver to Toyota Stadium after conceding a loss for the first time in six home games. It was also the first time this season they allowed multiple goals in a home game. Defensively, they’re among the elite teams in MLS, and there’s no doubt they’ll be at their best to redeem last game’s shortcomings. Vancouver comes in with some momentum after not losing any of its last five matches against Dallas. They’re undefeated in four trips to Toyota Stadium and will attempt to make it two losses in a row for Dallas.

One player Vancouver will need to keep an eye on is Paul Arriola, who has goals in five consecutive games. His current streak is the third-longest one in Dallas’ history, placing him in good company along with the likes of Carlos Ruiz (7 straight in 2006) and Jeff Cunningham (6 straight in 2009). Vancouver also failed to register a shot on target in their last game, making it the second time they’ve done so this season. Go with Dallas for an easy win and take the over for goals (O2.5, -138).

Anytime Goal Scorer: Jesus Ferreira (-105)

Jesus Ferreira has already surpassed last year’s goal total in half the amount of games, and he doesn’t appear to be letting up. In 14 games this season, he’s tallied nine goals on 13 shots on target. While around two thirds of his shot attempts are missing the net, he’s scoring on close to 70% of the ones that do, making him an instant threat.

Before his three-game goalless drought, Ferreira hit the back of the net four times in three games. The Colombian-born American recorded four goals in an American 5-0 win during the Nations Cup last week, so he’ll be riding on good momentum heading into tonight. Watch for him to carry the offense along with Arriola, and take a gamble on him to record at least one goal.

Moneyline: Salt Lake @ -120

In the last two meetings between the two clubs, Salt Lake and San Jose both took home three points thanks to a 4-3 victory. Salt Lake has been nearly unstoppable at home, winning 12 of its last 15 games at Rio Tinto Stadium. San Jose is also coming in hot with a good record as of late, losing just once in their last six games and finishing with a 0-0 draw against Nashville. They haven’t strung together back-to-back clean sheets since 2020, and we don’t expect that to change tonight. Take Salt Lake to win convincingly and go with the over (O2.5, -150).
