NHL Betting: Stanley Cup Final Game 5 Player Props – 06/24/2022

The Stanley Cup Final could be almost over. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of value left in player props for bettors. This betting guide will take a look at the best value plays from some of the top players in the series based on trends through the first four games.

Nathan MacKinnon Over 4.5 Shots (-135)

Nathan MacKinnon has 104 shots on goal during the playoffs, which leads the NHL – by a lot. Tampa’s Victor Hedman and Nikita Kucherov are tied for second in the statistic, with 69 shots apiece. The Colorado star had eight shots on goal in his last game and scored his first goal of the Stanley Cup Final. With a chance to close out the series for his first Cup, MacKinnon will be letting it fly in Game 5.

This has been one of the most reliable prop bets in the playoffs. MacKinnon averages 5.8 shots per game in the playoffs, and that bumps up when he’s at home to an even 6.0 shots on goal. He’s failed to get five shots on goal just twice in the last eight games, but none of those were a chance for him to clinch the title. Expect heavy volume from MacKinnon and for him to get at least five shots on goal (-135).

Darcy Kuemper Over 25.5 Saves (-120)

Darcy Kuemper had a rough Game 3, giving up five goals before getting yanked in Colorado’s first road loss of the postseason. He bounced back spectacularly in Game 4, stopping 37 shots to help put the Avalanche one win away from their first Stanley Cup in 21 years. After dropping the first two games of the series, the Lightning have picked up the offense – rattling off 33 and 39 shots in Games 3 and 4, respectively.

Leave this field empty if you're human:

This is the last gasp for the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion, and the Lightning are likely going to pull out all the stops. There should be a heavy dose of shots coming at Kuemper from all angles as Tampa tries to fight its way back into the series. Even if Kuemper allows a few goals, the volume should be there to go over this number. Take Kuemper to make at least 26 saves (-120).

Victor Hedman Over 0.5 Points (-150)

Victor Hedman has put together another solid postseason. The Lightning blueliner scored his first goal of the series in Game 4 and had a pair of assists in Game 3. He has 15 assists and 18 points in 21 playoff games and has scored at least a point in three of his last four road games during the playoffs. Hedman will likely be heavily involved all over the ice in Game 5 as the Lightning try to stay alive for their third straight title.

That means a heavy dose of minutes should be coming for the standout defenseman, just like he’s done throughout the playoffs. He’s averaging 24:39 per game during the postseason and piled up more than 30 minutes in the Game 4 overtime loss. He has points in three of the five games of this series and is a good play to get at least one point in Game 5 (-150).
