MLB Betting: Tigers vs Diamondbacks & Phillies vs Padres – 06/25/22

In today’s MLB betting guide, the Detroit Tigers and Arizona Diamondbacks go head-to-head in hopes of climbing out of fourth place in their respective divisions. Meanwhile, the San Diego Padres have their sights set on first place in the NL West, and they’ll hope to achieve this rank as they welcome the Philadelphia Phillies.

Detroit Tigers (+130) vs Arizona Diamondbacks (-150)

Alex Faedo will start for the Tigers and has an opportunity to put his last two starts behind him. Faedo has allowed 17 hits while striking out seven in his last 7.1 innings and has gone 1-3 in his previous seven starts. Detroit got over a three-game losing skid against the Boston Red Sox thanks to a Javier Báez grand slam, and they can gain some momentum by stringing together a few wins over a struggling Diamondbacks club.

Arizona’s woes continue this week, dropping their last four games after winning two of three games against the Minnesota Twins. They’ll go to a struggling Zach Davies to start, who is 0-3 in his last seven with an ERA (earned run average) of 4.31 and 32 strikeouts in 39.2 innings. He struggled mightily against the Padres, allowing four runs on four hits in six innings, and isn’t in a good situation against the Tigers team that can take a bullpen to task.

Philadelphia Phillies (+105) vs San Diego Padres (-125)

After snapping a two-game losing streak against the Texas Rangers with one of their best defensive efforts of the season, the Phillies failed to follow it up in a 1-0 loss to the Padres. They’ll give the nod to Zach Effin, who earns his 13th start of the season and is 1-3 in his last seven games with a 4.38 ERA. Philadelphia made news recently with the call-up of Mark Appel, a former first-overall pick in 2013. At 30, he was absent from baseball for three years and has spent the last two seasons in Double-A and Triple-A baseball.

Winners of four of their last five games, the Padres are aiming to finish off their week strong with a pair of weekend games against the Phillies. They’re playing catch-up with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the top spot in the NL West, who has been hot as of late. Blake Snell takes the mound tonight and is still searching for his first win after going 0-4 to start the year. In two weeks, Snell allowed ten runs off 18 hits while playing against bottom-seeded teams like the Colorado Rockies. He admitted he needs to be better after throwing 43 pitches in the first inning two weeks ago, and tonight is a good chance for him to seek out that elusive win.
