UEFA Nations League Betting: HUN vs ENG & TUR vs FRO – 06/04/22

The UEFA Nations League is underway, kicking off the group stage matches on June 1. There have been a few surprises already, with Denmark edging out powerhouse France 2-1 and Poland defeating Wales 2-1 on opening day. Today, seven matches in total, with Groups A, B, and C taking the pitch. We’ll be covering Hungary’s biggest hill to climb against England and the showdown between Turkey and Faroe Islands. This is the place to find everything, including team win odds, the over/under, and point spreads.

Moneyline: England @ -223

England will be heavy favourites to win today, but they’re in for a rocky ride with Germany and Italy involved. They’ll be without several players for their opening game, including centre-backs Fikayo Tomori and Marc Guehi to minor injuries, while forward Raheem Sterling is doubtful due to an illness. Midfielder Phil Foden will also miss Tuesday’s game against Germany after testing positive for COVID-19. They’re still the odds-on favourite (-223) to cruise their way through Hungary.

Since 1962, Hungary has not defeated England in 15 attempts, and that shouldn’t change any time soon. With England being undefeated in their last 22 matches, Hungary faces an almost-impossible task. While Hungary was set to play without fans due to repeated racist behavior, UEFA has allowed children to attend when accompanied by a parent. The new stipulation has led to an expected turnout of over 30,000 fans in attendance. It’ll take a lot more than a large group of cheering fans for Hungary to do any damage today.

Prop Bet: Harry Kane Anytime Goal Scorer (+140)

With Tottenham Hotspur of the Premier League, Harry Kane was an absolute menace to deal with. He recorded 17 goals and seven assists in 37 games this year, adding four goals in four games at the UEFA Europa Conference League. He’s a goal-scoring machine and will be one of the deadliest threats of Group A.

He’s in a good position to net some goals in the early stages of the group and, in doing so, will reach an extra level of fame. Kane currently sits at 49 goals with the England national team. Wayne Rooney, one of the biggest legends of his sport, holds the record with 53. Kane can surpass Rooney in this tournament alone, and the motivation to pick up a few against an inferior Hungary team is plausible.

Moneyline: Turkey @ -800

The match between Turkey and Faroe Islands presents the most-lopsided odds of the day. Turkey is the heavy favourite to win their match (-800), and they’ll need to pick up as many points as possible, with Lithuania and Luxembourg looming. Turkey has the talent to do some damage this year, with Merih Demiral, Caglar Soyuncu, and Cengiz Under leading the charge. They’ve had disappointing results in recent memory and will look to shed past years’ shortcomings and finish at the top of Group C.

If you’re a risk-taker, perhaps putting a bit of change on the Faroe Islands to come up with the ultimate upset is intriguing. At +2000, a $10 bet nets you a profit of $200. They likely won’t win any of their group-stage matches, but the opportunity is there. Viljormur Davidsen, Sonni Nattestad, Odmar Faero, Hallur Hansson, and Gilli Rolantsson Sorensen are all players to watch out for, and Mads Boe Mikkelsen could make his debut as well.
