The New York Rangers aim to even up the series against the Carolina Hurricanes after dropping Game 1 in overtime. The Hurricanes managed a late third-period comeback to force overtime before winning it on an Ian Cole blast. This is where you’ll find everything, including team win odds, the over/under, and point spreads.
Adam Fox – Power Play Points (Over 0.5, +205)
It didn’t work out well for Game 1, but we’re double-dipping on this prop for a few reasons. For starters, it’s highly unlikely that Game 2 will feature fewer than three penalties for a second consecutive game. While both teams remained disciplined in the series opener, it’s only a matter of time before tensions rise and each team’s speed forces the other to take a stick infraction. Adam Fox only fired one shot on goal in Game 1, so expect that to change.

Game 2 expects to open up more, and both teams should get their chances. Both Antti Raanta and Igor Shesterkin were phenomenal, but that shouldn’t hold up all series. The Rangers have the fourth-best power play with a 30% efficiency rate, four-tenths of a percentage point behind the Edmonton Oilers. They’re too good offensively to be shut down for long, and sticking to their speed game should put them on the man advantage a few more times in Game 2.
Chris Kreider – Player Assists (Over 0.5, +225)
The Rangers will need Chris Kreider‘s regular-season form to show up in this series if they want to have a chance to push the Hurricanes around. He had just one shot on goal in 18:21 of ice time. With the game evenly matched and disciplined, head coach Gerard Gallant kept all of his forwards under 20 minutes, allowing all four lines to be fresh throughout the game.
It all comes down to bench management and getting the special teams flowing. If the Rangers can force some turnovers and make the Hurricanes take a few more penalties, their odds will increase significantly. Kreider may be a 52-goal scorer, but his shoot-first mentality can cause rebounds to bounce around in the crease, causing chaos. Lean towards him picking up an assist tonight, especially if they get their special teams out often.
Andrei Svechnikov – Anytime Goalscorer (+190)
It’s probably a game Andrei Svechnikov would like to put behind him, as he struggled with the Rangers’ defense early on. Finishing with one shot on goal, Svechnikov had three hits and four giveaways but failed to register much offense. If the regular season is any indication of what he can do, he has the ability to bounce back after a tough game. After going scoreless in the second game against the Rangers this season, he registered a goal and an assist to bring his total to four points in four games.

He had 30 goals on the year and then opened up the postseason with three goals in seven games, so the momentum was successfully carried over thus far. It won’t be a defensive-minded series all the way through, and it’s expected that both teams will start finding the back of the net. If the Hurricanes can open things up and get Shesterkin moving from side to side, Svechnikov is in a good position to get on the board. Considering the return, it’s a good time to put some dimes on him to register a goal.
