NHL Betting: Avalanche vs Lightning Stanley Cup Final Game 3 – 06/20/2022

The Colorado Avalanche took a commanding 2-0 series lead in the Stanley Cup Final, and they’re looking to put the Tampa Bay Lightning on the ropes in the series. Few were surprised to see Colorado take the first two games at home, but even fewer expected the demolition that happened in Game 2. This betting guide will give insight to some of the best value plays for bettors heading into Monday’s Game 3.

Colorado Avalanche (-110) vs Tampa Bay Lightning (-110)

In Game 2, Colorado delivered as dominant of a performance in the Stanley Cup Final as there has been in recent memory, and the Avalanche look like they aren’t letting anyone get in their way. Tampa Bay was down 2-0 to the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Final before winning the next four games, and the Lightning are going to try to pull off a similar trick here.

This was supposed to be the series that Colorado finally faced a top-flight netminder, but the Colorado buzzsaw has sliced through him, too. The Avs have made Tampa Bay goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy look human through the first two games of this series, but that isn’t all that’s happening. Vasilevskiy is getting no help at all in front of him. Colorado has been just too good in these playoffs, and they’re undefeated on the road in the playoffs. Take the Avalanche (-110) until Tampa shows something.

Over/Under: Over 6 (+100)

This was supposed to be a low-scoring series, but the first two games have been anything but. Both games have gone over the total, with seven goals being scored in each game. After Game 1 needed overtime to hit the over, the Avalanche showed they could go over the total all by themselves in Game 2. Colorado has scored 11 goals in the two games of this series. Coming into the Stanley Cup Final, the Lightning had allowed just 17 total goals in their previous 10 playoff games combined.

Leave this field empty if you're human:

In Colorado’s 16 playoff games, there have been at least six goals scored 11 times, including five of the last six. The Avalanche clearly look like they’re driving this bus right now, and they’ve been too hot for anybody to handle, scoring four goals themselves in eight of the last nine games. Until the Lightning can prove they can slow down the Avalanche, keep taking the over (O6, +100).

Prop Bet: First Period Total Goals (Over 1.5, -125)

Colorado’s hot starts have been something that has been going on all season. They were 43-4-5 when scoring first during the regular season, and have rocked through the first two games of this series. There were four goals scored in the first period of Game 1, and three more scored in the first period of Game 2.

Tampa Bay is going to have to step up in some way in Game 3, but the Avalanche have proven they can take care of this prop bet on their own. Colorado has scored three goals in the first period of each of the first two games of this series. This is a good value play, so take these teams to combine for at least two goals in the opening period (-125) of Game 3.
