5 NBA FanDuel Value Plays to Target on Wednesday 2/1/23

One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays.

If you're looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing one of these lower-salaried options into your lineup.

Let's take a look at some players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup on FanDuel tonight, using numberFire's daily fantasy basketball projections as a guide.

Cameron Johnson, SF/PF, Phoenix Suns

FanDuel Salary: $5,500

Cameron Johnson's salary is down $500 from where it was for two games prior. He's fresh off of a 1-for-9, 13.6-FanDuel-point outing, which helps explain the drop.

But he sets up for a bounce back against the Atlanta Hawks while the Phoenix Suns are still thinned out.

Johnson has at least seven three-point attempts in four straight games, and the Hawks are just average at defending the arc (by volume).

He is projected for 32.0 minutes and 30.0 FanDuel points tonight in a plus spot. Johnson's FanDuel-point-per minute average against defenses outside the top 10 in defensive rating is 0.93.

Harrison Barnes, SF/PF, Sacramento Kings

FanDuel Salary: $5,400

Harrison Barnes is at the top of the value list in terms of numberFire's projections (5.51 FanDuel points per $1,000). He is projected for a hefty 37.2 minutes for the Sacramento Kings in the best game of the night by over/under (244.0).

In addition to the high total, the Kings get the San Antonio Spurs' 30th-ranked defense.

Barnes is very matchup dependent on the season. He's averaging 0.70 FanDuel points per minute against top-20 defenses and 0.93 against bottom-10 defenses.

Tre Jones, PG, San Antonio Spurs

FanDuel Salary: $5,800

Let's stick in that game with a slate-best total. The Spurs are 8.0-point underdogs but still have a 118.0-point implied team total. That's a lot of juice.

Tre Jones will be key to getting toward 120 points for the Spurs.

Without Devin Vassell on the floor, Jones averages 1.02 FanDuel points per minute on the back of a 21.3% usage rate, via CourtIQ.

He also averages 1.08 FanDuel points per minute in games against bottom-10 defenses.

Seth Curry, PG/SG, Brooklyn Nets

FanDuel Salary: $4,600

Although Seth Curry and the Brooklyn Nets actually have the lowest over/under of the night (226.5) and the lowest implied team total (109.0), there's enough room for him -- at the salary of $4,600 -- to get into the top tier of value plays.

Curry is projected for 31.7 minutes and 25.2 FanDuel points. In six games with 30-plus minutes on the season, Curry has averaged 24.5 FanDuel points and 5.5 three-point attempts. That's compared to 4.3 three-point attempts in all other games.

The Boston Celtics are surprisingly average at defending the arc, too.

Daishen Nix, PG, Houston Rockets

FanDuel Salary: $3,900

A sub-$4,000 salary is what we have for Daishen Nix in a matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Nix is projected for 25.6 minutes and 20.5 FanDuel points, a viable output for such a low salary that gets us access to the superstars on the slate. That's also a top-five minute-per-dollar value projection on the board.

Nix has played 21.1 and 26.8 minutes over the past two games, and the Houston Rockets are without Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green.
