NHL Betting: Rangers vs Hurricanes Game 3 Prop Bets – 05/22/2022

The Carolina Hurricanes visit the New York Rangers for Game 3 after winning back-to-back games in front of their home crowd. The Rangers are in a tough spot, having scored just one goal in two games. They’ll rely on the energy of the Big Apple crowd to light the spark. This is where you’ll find everything, including team win odds, the over/under, and point spreads.

Alexis Lafreniere and Adam Fox to Score 1+ Goals Each in Series (+300)

One storyline that was unexpected heading into Round 2 between the Rangers and Hurricanes was the complete shutdown of offense from both sides. The series is tightly checked to the point that two goals will win a game, which has been the case in each game thus far. Alexis Lafreniere and Adam Fox have combined for one assist in two games, and the star forwards have yet to register any offense. New York’s offense has gone from four goals per game down to just one in two games against Carolina.

A fun stat line available is where Lafreniere and Fox are required to score once during this series. That seems highly unlikely if any weight is put on the first two games. Lafreniere was somewhat quiet during the first two games against the Penguins before he took off, scoring two goals and two assists in his next three games. Fox put up points in each game in the first round, and it’s only a matter of time before he figures things out. This one may be worth the risk if you have some spare change lying around.

Jaccob Slavin – Player Shots (Under 2.5, +110)

After a fantastic start in Round 1 against the Boston Bruins, Jaccob Slavin‘s pace has simmered down from its rapid boil. The defensive clinic put on by both teams has affected each team’s best producers. Slavin was one of the Hurricanes’ best players against the Bruins, registering eight points in seven games. He’s heavily relied upon for his offensive awareness and ability to shut down the neutral zone, averaging over 20 minutes per game and 24-30 shifts per game.

He currently sits at two shots on goal in two games against the Rangers, and that trend may continue into Game 3. The Rangers play a much tighter game at home, and they’ll look to control the puck more in front of their fans. Both teams are already way under the expected total of shots, with neither of them breaking 30 in either game. Considering the lack of generating offense, Slavin’s under for shots in Game 3 is very plausible.

Vincent Trocheck – Player Points (Over 0.5, +110)

In Round 1, Vincent Trocheck was a point-per-game player but was held off the scoresheet in three of seven games. He’s no stranger to playing with a more defensive approach, as was seen against the Bruins. He exemplifies Hurricanes hockey, remaining patient in tightly-checked games while pouncing on any errors made by the opposition. He’s looked very comfortable in this series against the Rangers, and it’s only a matter of time before he gets going.

In four games against the Rangers during the regular season, Trocheck registered four points. He was held off the scoresheet twice while recording multi-point games in the two other games. He won’t always put up points on the board, but his effort remains consistent. The Hurricanes are an excellent road team, and they’ll look to silence the crowd early before shutting things down. Trocheck is a prime candidate if you’re looking for some offense, especially if things get gritty around the net.
